TARGA REAL ESTATE SERVICES, INC., a corporation licensed to do business in Washington State and Arizona State, was established in 1987. The owner and sole stockholder is Thomas M. Petramalo, CPM (Certified Property Manager), CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member). After receiving both a marketing and finance degree from Pacific Lutheran University, Tom spent two years in New York working in a development company. Moving back to the Seattle area, he spent the next five years working for a large regional property management company in Tacoma. During that time, he was responsible for lease-ups for many of the area’s largest real estate builders. An opportunity to expand his career came from a national syndicate where Tom spent the next four years leasing up and managing projects acquired at Epic Realty. There he became Vice President in charge of the newly-established fee management division - an operation that grew to be one of the largest in the country. In 1987, an entrepreneurial desire propelled Tom into his own business venture known as TARGA REAL ESTATE SERVICES, INC.

Thomas M. Petramalo holds the designation of CCIM. Only six percent of the estimated 125,000 commercial real estate practitioners nationwide hold the CCIM designation, which reflects not only the caliber of the program but also why it is one of the most coveted and respected designations in the industry. The CCIM membership network mirrors the increasingly-changing nature of the industry and includes brokers, leasing professionals, investment counselors, asset managers, appraisers, corporate real estate executives, property managers, developers, institutional investors, commercial lenders, attorneys, bankers, and other allied professionals. Through this business network and through enhanced communication with the CCIM electronic network, CCIMs successfully complete approximately 156,000 transactions annually, representing more than $400 billion. 

Michael is the CEO for Targa Real Estate Services, Inc and is responsible for the oversight of Targa. Michael received his formal education from Pacific Lutheran University where he obtained a BA in Business with a marketing concentration and finance minor. As important as his formal education was, it is the many years of tutelage from his father that has given him the hands-on training to be one of the best Executives in the area. This has afforded him the opportunity to manage investments for many of Targa Real Estate Services’ largest clients. With a current management portfolio totaling $1 Billion, Michael has the experience to manage many different types of multi-family assets. Michael has been responsible for the management of Class A assets as well as the rehab and lease up of bank owned/distressed properties. This versatility is necessary in multi-family management. Michael holds certifications from the Washington State Housing Finance Commission for Low Income Housing Tax Credit Properties; and is also involved in Crime Free Housing Programs with many cities in both King and Pierce County. 

Michael’s responsibilities extend beyond managing properties. Since Michael has been employed with Targa Real Estate Services, Inc. he has led the charge in keeping Targa on the cutting edge of technology. Overseeing Targa Real Estate Services “Information Technology (IT)” department has allowed him to work with a national software provider, customizing on-site software that gives investors access to information 24 hours a day and increases on-site staff efficiency levels. Michael is responsible for the implementation and training of said on-site software at each asset that Targa manages. 

Michael’s skill set is an integral part of Targa Real Estate Services, Inc. and is a benefit to every client that Targa Real Estate Services, Inc. works for.

Shawn is a seasoned leader with the ability to foster team development, and lead organizations through transformative growth. A Tacoma native and graduate of Pacific Lutheran University, Shawn brings over two decades of experience in leadership roles across industries, including real estate and technology. 

Prior to joining Targa in 2024, Shawn excelled in the technology sector, where he spearheaded key initiatives, such as launching a startup healthcare subsidiary, overseeing company acquisitions and integrations, and implementing critical operational processes. His expertise in building and leading high-performing teams, coupled with his ability to manage large-scale transitional projects, has consistently delivered measurable results. 

As Chief Operating Officer of Targa, Shawn is responsible for ensuring operational efficiency, profitability, and alignment with the company’s strategic goals. Guided by Stephen Covey’s stewardship leadership philosophy — “never delegate methods, only results”— he champions collaborative leadership and believes the greatest successes come from unified teamwork. 

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Shawn is passionate about fitness, nutrition, and creating meaningful moments with his family. 

Tommy is the SVP of Commercial Management and Brokerage for Targa Real Estate Services. Following in his father and brother’s footsteps Tommy received a Business Finance Degree from Pacific Lutheran University. Throughout his college years Tommy jumped into the family business immersing himself in all aspects and services Targa offered. Managing homeowners associations, apartments, and overseeing the maintenance side of Targa, Tommy took the time to hone his craft. This jack of all trades’ mentality has served him well in the years since. 
Seeking to fuel his passion for real estate Tommy pursued and obtained his CPM (Certified Property Manager) designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management. This designation has enabled him to better serve his clients and stay on the forefront of commercial management leading practices.

Tommy’s current management portfolio stretches over 500,000 square feet and covers Class A buildings, warehouses, retail facilities and office suites. While Tommy’s technical training and 15 plus years of experience are undoubtedly an asset, it is his ability to develop and foster relationships that is his strongest trait. His capacity for problem solving and managing tenant relations ensures that his clients, some of whom are spread throughout the country, know their asset is managed with expertise and diligence. Tommy approaches every building as if it was his own, consistently seeking to ensure that his clients investments are secure and protected in an ever-changing environment. 
Outside of work Tommy is passionate about animal welfare, sitting on the board of a local non-profit, People for Animal Care and Kindness. When not working Tommy can be found fly fishing, hiking, or generally enjoying the outdoors with his wife and their beagle; Jack. 

Bud is the “Apartment Guy” at Targa Real Estate Services, Inc. – overseeing our 60+ apartment communities with the help of a talented and well-trained team of regional managers and on-site property managers throughout the Puget Sound Area and beyond. After attending college in Western Washington, Bud spent the next twenty years in the hospitality business as both a regional operations manager and franchise consultant, often working closely with the corporate site-selection and product-procurement teams.

Today, Bud brings his talent for personnel selection and team building to Targa with well over ten years of apartment specific experience. Along with “on-the job training” where veteran managers and maintenance staff members are often paired up with new employees, his team utilizes a nationally recognized on-line training program that is accessible for both initial training and continuing education. 

Bud is instrumental in developing and implementing operating policies in the property management division, making sure that the practices best serve our clients’ assets. He serves as the main conduit between our staff members and our well-vetted team of vendors. Bud and his team never take for granted that they are trusted with the financial well-being of client assets and work hard to tailor their every act to the needs of each individual building.

Janis started her career with Targa over 11 years ago as a Property Accountant. After a couple of years, she was promoted to the Accounting Manager position, overseeing the Accounting Department with a team of ten staff reporting to her. She was promoted to the Controller position in 2024. She is responsible for all of the financial activities for Corporate and other entities for over 160 asset types, produces monthly financial statements, reports monthly and annual tax filings, oversees daily tasks and projects. She attended college and obtained her BA in Business with an accounting concentration. She brings over 35 years of accounting experience working in both public and private accounting. She is definitely an asset to Targa! 

Wendy has been in the property management industry since 2012, progressing from property manager to training manager, regional manager, and office manager. In 2021, she transitioned into accounting, joining Targa as a bookkeeper. By 2024, she was promoted to Accounting Manager, where she now oversees the bookkeeping and accounts payable (AP) departments, managing a large and diverse property portfolio. Wendy thrives on the complexity of her role and aims to maintain her connection to a broad portfolio. 

Holding an Accounting degree with a 4.0 GPA, Wendy’s passion for numbers began early, reinforced by her experience managing her own business’s books and payroll. She excels at full financial management for commercial, multifamily, HOA, single-family, and storage properties. Her expertise includes invoice processing, account management, owner distributions, staff training, and process improvement. Since stepping into her leadership role, she has boosted training efforts and streamlined workflows through technology, empowering her team with knowledge and problem-solving skills. 

Wendy is deeply committed to Targa, valuing its growth, flexibility, and supportive environment. Married with three boys, she loves cooking, spending time with her family, and reading when time allows. Her rich experience across roles makes her an insightful and confident leader pushing Targa to the next level. 

Peggy is a graduate of the University of Phoenix, holding a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Her professional journey began in 2003 in the Accounting Department at Targa Real Estate. 

Recognizing her desire to make a greater impact, she transitioned into Property Management, where she played a pivotal role in helping Targa develop the Single Family Management Division. This division specializes in managing properties ranging from single-family homes to 25-unit apartment buildings. Currently, she serves as the Director of Residential Services, dedicated to serving Targa and its clients with excellence. 

With over 20 years of experience in the property management industry, Peggy also ventured into real estate several years ago and has never looked back. She is passionate about delivering exceptional service, connecting buyers with their perfect homes, and helping sellers find excellent buyers, all while making a meaningful difference in the lives of those she works with. 

Outside of work, Peggy is a proud mother of four children. She enjoys hiking, keeping her kids engaged in sports and outdoor activities, and creating lasting memories with her family. Balancing a successful career with her active family life keeps her grounded and energized. 

As the head of the self-storage division, Markayla’s leadership style emphasizes tailored customer experience and management, ensuring that each facility owner receives personalized attention and support. Her commitment to enhancing the customer experience is evident in her hands-on approach to management, always striving to meet and exceed the needs of both clients and tenants. 

Markayla oversees a portfolio worth almost $100 million, stretching approximately 500,000 sq ft and over 4,000 units. She leads a team of 25+ dedicated self-storage managers, assistant managers and maintenance personnel across Washington and Oregon. 

A Tacoma native and graduate of City University of Seattle with a Bachelor of Arts in Human Services, Markayla started in multifamily and obtained the Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor (CAPS) designation from the National Apartment Association. Following this achievement, Markayla transitioned to lead the self-storage division, where she implemented cutting-edge technology solutions, streamlined processes and improved operational efficiencies across the division. 

By leveraging her expertise, she has been able to effectively navigate the complexities of self-storage management while fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence among her team. Markayla is forward-thinking and remains dedicated to continuous improvement and innovation. She is passionate about utilizing her knowledge and experience to drive growth and success for her facilities and the clients she serves. 

Alicia began her Targa journey not as an employee but as a senior account director with Targa’s marketing agency at the time. When she joined the Targa crew officially in the fall of 2024, she brought a wealth of knowledge. Because she was directly involved in Targa’s campaigns through the marketing agency, she joined the team aware of Targa’s goals and objectives as a company.  

As if two college degrees weren't enough, she went back to school in 2020 to obtain her Masters from Multnomah University to study business management and leadership. Alicia brings 10 years of experience with marketing strategies and implementation practices. From graphic design, email marketing and business development to content strategies and digital asset management, Alicia has been involved in it all. Her passion for conveying excellence to the right person at the right time is leading the charge in marketing efforts for the company, our clients and our tenants. 

When not showcasing Targa to the world you can find Alicia cheering on the Seattle Kraken, spending time with her many nieces and nephews or riding her motorcycle on a sunny day.
